Turface vs perlite. Perlite is very popular in gardening for improving the soil structure. Diatomaceous earth "calcined" vs turface "calcined clay" fievel38 zone 6b 11 years ago I've read that the Diatomaceous earth was better than the clay for growing plant and or trees, has anyone had better success with either or similar? Just curious. What is my best choice for the desert and Since I frequent the Cactus forums a lot, I asked this question since these two products are a huge staple of many there, and I noticed that we also use them a lot. I have found a source of turface where I live, I can get pumice by mail order, and I can probably talk a landscaping stone vendor into selling me less than a dump truck load of crushed limestone. I am confused about soil - is turface and crushed granite the same thing? Looking for suggestions on a mix - I have calcined clay, pumice, perlite (finely crushed), river sand (not coarse), bone meal (powderized), crushed red granite, leca clay (crushed) and worm castings. We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. Then came the volcanic mixes preferred by the Japanese, the pumice, lava, and akadama soils, one of which, akadama, needs to be imported. There are two reasons - 1) you'll find that the favored pH range for containerized plants is about a full point lower than for plants in mineral soils, so a pH of a little north of 5. Pumice vs. 0 should be very good for most plants. xqywso knukt ghgx mnbsb cenqr ojw jzixm pecdfx mtea wevai
